Staffs Wing Win Again!

The Five-A-Side football team from Staffordshire Wing won today's inter-wing tournament at DCAE Cosford. Team Manager, Flt Lt Mike Stubbs, said: "It was a brilliant day. Each match was thrilling to watch. We are so proud of the team for giving it their all." Wales & West Region Commandant, Group Captain Dick Allen presented the winning team with their trophy.

Great Success for TOIC Course

Yet another successful TOIC, or Techniques of Instruction Course, was held at Stafford this weekend with 22 cadets from throughout the Wing being put through their paces. At the end of the day, five cadets went away with their yellow lanyards - the sign that they are fully fledged staff cadets.

Polesworth Cadet Celebration

Drayton Manor Park set the scene for 1200 (Polesworth) Squadron's annual presentation evening. Cadets and staff played host to Councillor Chamberlain and Mrs Astley from Polesworth Parish Council with Squadron Leader Roger Jukes representing Staffordshire Wing.

Boscobel Sqn Visit the Queen!

A visit to London wasn't out of reach for 2078 (Boscobel) Squadron; 19 cadets and 2 staff descended on the Capital for a weekend of education and entertainment. Flt Lt Kathy Mason, Commanding Officer 2078 (Boscobel) Sqn arranged for the cadets to visit the Tower of London - a bit of history and a gawp at the Crown Jewels; HMS Belfast - a floating palace it isn't; London Dungeons - finally made the cadets scream; Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus - for a little light entertainment on the Saturday; Houses of Parliament - external view only, Downing Street - for a photo opportunity not to be missed, Horse Guards Parade - for a bit of drill (and you think we're joking), The Mall - for a pleasant stroll in the sunshine, Buckingham Palace - another photo opportunity not to be missed and finally the Imperial War Museum - for a bit of military history on the Sunday.

Recruit Snow Drops in at 1122 (Marmion) Sqn

The recent bad weather meant that many cadets and staff couldn't get to their squadrons. However, 1122 (Marmion) Sqn had the coolest potential recruit on the Wing.

ATC Sunday Celebration at Tamworth

Four squadrons came together on ATC Sunday and celebrated with a church service at St Editha's Church in Tamworth, Staffordshire. 351 (Burton on Trent), 1122 (Marmion), 1200 (Polesworth) and 1206 (Mercian) squadrons attended a specially arranged church service with the Deputy Mayor of Tamworth, Councillor and Mrs M Oates and Squadron Leader Roger Jukes, Wing Staff Officer, Staffordshire Wing as visiting dignitaries. The Rev Alan Barrett, Wales & West Region & Staffordshire WIng Padre, was also present and delivered the sermon praising the cadets and staff within the ATC.
