230 (Congleton) Squadron have always had a high profile in the local community and now it has been officially recognised!
The Squadron has won the 2006 Hero's 'Group' Award, presented by the Borough Council in recognition of the services given in the community. The Award, in the shape of a solid engraved glass block, and a framed certificate were awarded at a glittering presentation evening in the town hall hosted by the ex-BBC presenter Nigel Jay. In front of a packed house, Officer Commanding 230 (Congleton) Sqn Flt Lt Eric Westwood and a representative group of cadets, went up to accept the Award.

2078 (Boscobel) Squadron took Staffordshire Wing high in the award stakes at the recent Cadet Inter Services Skills At Arms (CISSAM). 2078 Sqn came third place overall in the ATC across all the disciplines (four Bronze Medals) 1344A (Cardiff) were first and 1344B were second - a clean sweep for Wales and West: we were 10 points away from second. There were only these three Squadrons in the top 20 teams in the meeting. Third place in the Team Clay (four Bronze Medals) the highest placing of an ATC team in any of the competitions and the only tri service medals that did not go to the ACF, bearing in mind we had only one practice (on Friday) and the ACF design and run the competition and have lots of practice at the exact same shoot. Fourth place in the Team Snap, one point off 3rd and the highest placed ATC team in any of the L98 competitions (and we thrashed Cardiff A & B !!)
