BTEC First Diploma in Public Services

Staffordshire Wing held its first BTEC weekend at Sir Graham Balfour School in Stafford recently. 68 cadets attended and most completed the Integrated Vocational Assignment (IVA). The School were very supportive with this and each cadet was able to have personal use of a computer or laptop, with each having their own user area that they were able to access with an assigned password. Cadets had access to the internet as well as a wide range of resources supplied by the CIO. There was also a visit by the Regional Operations Manager from Frimley Park - Captain Philippa Falshaw who was there to help with questions from cadets and assess the records being kept. The feedback received from her was "excellent"!

Anyone who enrolled at the end of last year can take part in the next BTEC Weekend at Sir Graham Balfour School, Stafford on 25 and 26 February. Cadets will be completing IVAs, Workbooks and interviews. Even if cadets have not started, they will be able to complete the required paperwork during the weekend. If you went on the December weekend, you are more than welcome to go along to this one too.

BTEC Leadership Day at RAF Stafford on Sunday 19th March. This is for cadets who have not attended an NCO course and will involve outdoor leadership tasks. If you have got any questions then please ask the Wing BTEC Officer Flt Lt V O'Dell. She can be contacted via Wing or the website.

There is also the BTEC website for further information http://www.cvqo.co.uk.

This internationally respected qualification is equivalent to 4 GCSEs at A*- C level.
